Research your assigned colony or territory from its founding until 1756 (before the breakout of the French and Indian War). Create a travel brochure for your particular colony addressing its general features and goals, strengths and challenges, and reasons for which people would wish to settle. Be sure to include:
- One article explaining the founding of the colony, geographic location and important leaders
- One article explaining the valuable resources or economic system of the colony
- One article explaining the religious and political organization of the empire
Write your articles in both an informative AND persuasive manner! You are trying to draw visitors to this particular colony by describing the elements of the empire in an interesting AND accurate way.
- At least 3 different visuals (pictures, artwork, charts, cartoons, etc.)
- Captions for pictures or charts in which explanations are needed
- Works Cited
This assignment will be worth 20 points (large quiz grade) and will be broken up as follows:
- Accuracy and Depth of Content (required elements of brochure are included, information provided is detailed and correct) – 6 points
- Attractiveness and Organization (brochure looks good and is organized in a logical, reader-friendly way) – 4 points
- Creativity (brochure includes elements of original thought, not limited to but possibly including a unique writing style, interesting facts about the colony, clever graphics, etc.) – 5 points
- Works Cited (MLA format, at the end of the brochure)--5 points
