Chemistry Element Project
You will be giving a power point or poster presentation on your element to your Chemistry class, and it will be approximately 3 minutes in length. The purpose of this project assignment is for you to learn as much as you can (within reason) about your element and then to share what you consider important and appropriate with the class.
See the box below for what to include.
The facts that must be included in your presentation are:
name of the element
symbol
atomic number
atomic mass
phase
type of element (metal, nonmetal, metalloid)
other characteristics or properties which you consider to be important
The rest of the information in your presentation is up to you. Try to be creative and interesting.
Most of your presentation should be oral, but you must supplement by other means, such as a PowerPoint, poster, pictures, etc. The one part of the project that you will turn in, during class, on the day of your presentation, is a bibliography citing your sources, a minumum of three. This bibliography should be in the same format as you use for your English class (MLA).
Your grade on the project will be based on delivery, length (approximately 3 minutes), clarity, accuracy of facts, the bibliography and creativity. You also must be ready to present when it is your turn – that means that you should have whatever you need (computer, poster, etc) prepared and available so that there will not be a delay in between presentations.
If you are planning to do a power point presentation, you must use your own computer or borrow one from a friend (sorry, but you may not use my computer), and you must check in advance, before the day of your presentation, to make sure that I have the correct adapter(s) for the computer that you will be using.
The Element Project will count between one and two test grades toward your Trimester 3 grade.
