WHAT TO DO

SUBMIT a working thesis paragraph and outline for body paragraphs. Specifically, you must provide the following:

  • Working thesis that presents your paper's central argument.
  • Outline must present the logical flow of your paper.  For each section of your outline, list the evidence (facts, ideas, quotes) that supports the main idea/argument of the section.
  • Analyze whether you have sufficient evidence to support your argument. If you lack sufficient evidence/support, explain what additional research you plan to do.

THESIS STATEMENTS & OUTLINES

Your thesis statement should be created AFTER you have consulted several sources, collected evidence, and made connections that will support an argument. The thesis provides context for the reader; it clearly and specifically addresses the main idea/argument you are making in your paper. Your working thesis will likely be revised as you conduct more research and narrow your focus.

Your outline presents your thesis, arguments, supporting evidence, and conclusions in a simple, logical format. Organizing your work in an outline allows you to assess your arguments and find gaps in research.
